Alexander Brothers: Lawsuit Dismissed
A lawsuit filed in New York against real estate moguls Tal, Oren, and Alon Alexander, claiming they raped a woman, was dismissed on Wednesday by a federal judge. U.S. District Judge Lewis Kaplan ruled that the alleged incident fell outside New York’s statute of limitations. Angelica Parker, the plaintiff, had accused the brothers of assaulting her in 2012, but the court found her claims were time-barred.
However, Judge Kaplan allowed Parker until February 14th to file an amendment related to Tal Alexander, who she alleges later attempted to sexually assault her. The ruling follows a broader criminal investigation, with the Alexander brothers currently facing federal charges in Miami and New York City for sex trafficking and rape, spanning from 2010 to 2021.
Authorities have received as many as 40 other claims from women accusing the brothers of similar offenses. Tal, Oren, and Alon Alexander remain in federal custody, with bond denied.

C.A.R Backs $2.5 Billion Relief Plan

Spain Proposes 100% Foreign Property Buyers Tax
In international news, Spain’s Socialist Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez has unveiled bold new measures aimed at tackling the country’s growing housing crisis. The centerpiece of his proposal is a 100% property tax on homes bought by foreigners, which he says is necessary to curb speculation and prioritize housing for Spanish residents.
Foreign buyers, particularly from outside the European Union, have been a growing force in Spain’s real estate market, with about 27,000 properties purchased by non-residents in 2023 alone. Sanchez argues that these buyers, who treat housing as an investment rather than a home, are driving up prices and exacerbating shortages.
In addition to the tax on foreign property buyers, Sanchez has proposed higher taxes on short-term holiday rentals, tax breaks for landlords offering affordable housing, and measures to speed up construction and expand land availability for new homes.
With housing prices soaring and protests against rising rents in cities like Barcelona and Seville, the question remains: will these new measures be enough to address the root causes of Spain’s housing crisis?
