CFPB Shuts Down for a Week Amid Budget Clash
The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) is set to shut down for a week, according to multiple reports. The agency’s headquarters in Washington, D.C. will be closed from Monday to Friday. The decision comes after Russell Vought, Director of the Office of Management and Budget, announced that the CFPB would not be drawing on unappropriated funding, calling its current balance of $711.6 million “excessive.”
Vought also issued directives halting all supervision, investigations, and enforcement actions at the CFPB. This move follows tensions between Vought and Democrats, with Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer criticizing Vought’s ties to Project 2025 and his recent confirmation.
The shutdown has sparked controversy, as it comes at a time when the CFPB plays a crucial role in consumer protection. The impact of this decision is expected to be felt nationwide, especially as the Bureau is halted from engaging in public communications or carrying out its duties.

Rocket Makes Super Bowl History with Ad
Rocket Companies made Super Bowl history last night with their “Own the Dream” ad and a live in-stadium singalong. The Detroit-based fintech giant, known for its mortgage, real estate, and personal finance businesses, launched the 60-second spot during the second quarter of Super Bowl LIX. The ad, set to a reimagined version of John Denver’s “Take Me Home, Country Roads,” showcased Americans reconnecting with the places that matter most.
But the moment didn’t stop there. As the ad’s final words, “Own the Dream,” appeared on screen, the energy in the stadium soared. Over 65,000 fans at Caesars Superdome joined in for a historic live singalong, making it a first-ever Super Bowl experience.
Congratulations to the Philadelphia Eagles who beat the Kansas City Chiefs last night in Superbowl 59.

Alexander Brothers Plead Not Guilty
And finally, the Alexander brothers—Tal, Oren, and Alon—are facing serious charges after being accused of repeatedly assaulting more than 60 women. The three men, ages 37 to 38, appeared in a Manhattan court on Friday, where they pleaded “not guilty” to federal charges. Prosecutors allege the brothers, who were featured on Million Dollar Listing, were involved in a decade-long scheme that included trafficking and assaulting victims.
The accusations reportedly date back to their teenage years in Miami, with authorities stating that the brothers engaged in violent behavior over many years. Investigators have found substantial evidence, including explicit images and videos on the brothers’ devices.
Defense attorneys maintain that their clients are innocent, referencing polygraph tests to support their claims. The next court hearing is scheduled for July, and the trial is set for January. If convicted, the brothers could face lengthy prison sentences.
